DV&M Market Index: Top Growth MarketsBack to News
The DV&M Market Index uses a weighted blend of historical and projected growth rates in households, population, effective buying income, and retail sales to rank daily newspaper markets. The top 12 are shown on the map, and the top 25 are listed in the table.
The state with the largest number of high-growth markets was Texas, which boasts 12 of the top 25. Colorado was the runner-up, with four of the top 25 newspapers situated in the best growth markets. In general, 19 of the top 25 newspapers were located in either southwestern or western market areas.
In terms of ownership, both CNHI and Swift Newspapers each own four of the top 25 newspapers; the remainder of the top 25 are owned by a fairly even split of families and groups.
