AUDUBON, IA, March 14, 2008 – Audubon Media announced today that it has sold Audubon County Newspapers to Illinois-based Community Media Group, Inc. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Dirks, Van Essen & Murray, a newspaper merger-and-acquisition firm based in Santa Fe, New Mexico, represented Audubon Media in the transaction.

“We plan to focus our energy and resources on continuing the growth of our fundraising cookbook and student planner businesses,” said Keith McGlade, owner of Audubon Media.

Audubon County Newspapers includes three weekly publications: the Audubon County Advocate Journal, a paid weekly with 2,425 circulation; the Nishna Valley Tribune, distributed free to 7,000 households in the county and portions of neighboring counties; and Today’s Action, a common advertising section published as part of the Advocate Journal and other weekly newspapers in the area that has a total distribution of 43,000 copies.

Community Media Group, based in West Frankfort, Illinois, owns dailies and non-dailies in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, New York and Pennsylvania.
