Dirks, Van Essen & Murray Engaged to Explore Options for Former Brown PublishingBack to News

SANTA FE, NM, September 13, 2010 – Ohio Community Media, LLC has engaged Dirks, Van Essen & Murray to explore strategic options for its publishing assets, which consist of a substantial community newspaper group in western Ohio and a collection of business journals serving regional and metro markets.

Ohio Community Media was created by the former lenders of Brown Publishing Company. The lending group recently took ownership of most of the Brown Publishing assets, including 14 dailies and numerous weeklies primarily located in central and western Ohio and 11 business journals. The business journals serve markets in Iowa, Texas, Colorado, Utah, Wyoming, Illinois and South Carolina.

Brown Publishing’s weeklies in Hardin and Putnam counties in northern Ohio as well as the daily Van Wert (OH) Times Bulletin were sold to a separate buyer as part of a bankruptcy auction. In addition, Dan’s Papers Inc. serving Long Island, New York was sold to a separate buyer in a similar fashion.

Dirks, Van Essen & Murray expects to begin a formal exploration process for Ohio Community Media’s publishing assets within the next month.
