Former Owner Acquires Austin-Based Relocation GuidesBack to News

AUSTIN, TX, October 28, 2010 – ARG Publishing Company, Inc. has acquired relocation guide assets from Ohio Community Media, LLC, including those in Austin and Dallas, Texas and Tucson and Phoenix, Arizona.

Dirks, Van Essen & Murray, a newspaper merger and acquisition firm in Santa Fe, New Mexico, represented Ohio Community Media in the transaction.

The relocation guide company was founded by Kevin Evans in 2002 and sold to Brown Publishing Company in 2008. At the time, it published the Austin Relocation Guide, Destination DFW and several other related publications and websites serving those fast-growing metropolitan areas. Two more relocation guides – Tucson Relocation Guide and Phoenix Relocation Guide – were later added under the Brown Publishing umbrella.

“We have always believed that these products provide a comprehensive resource for anyone moving into or within these markets, and our ability to expand from our original two markets – Austin and Dallas – now to four speaks to the strong market response for these products. We are pleased to continue these products under their original corporate home, and look forward to serving both our resident and advertiser constituents in the coming years,” said Evans, President and CEO of the acquiring company, ARG Publishing.

“We are pleased that these unique businesses, which have served their markets well since their inception, will continue to thrive under their original ownership,” stated Rick Starks, CEO of Ohio Community Media. “Kevin and his team created a strong group of guides, and we have no doubt that they will continue that momentum. We wish them success.”

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Ohio Community Media owns and operates a large portfolio of daily and weekly newspapers in western Ohio, in addition to business publications located throughout the country. OCM took ownership of these publishing assets through a court-ordered Section 363 bankruptcy sale of the Brown Publishing Company’s assets earlier this year.
