Hartford (CT) Courant to acquire ReminderNews publicationsBack to News


Hartford, CT – March 26, 2014 – The Hartford Courant has reached an agreement to acquire Reminder Media Inc., publisher of 15 free weekly ReminderNews publications in eastern and northern Connecticut.

Dirks, Van Essen & Murray, a merger and acquisition firm based in Santa Fe, New Mexico represented ReminderNews in the sale.  Financial terms were not disclosed. 

The sale, which would become final in April, also includes four annual community directories titled Reminder Gold Pages; Reminder Homes, a monthly publication on properties for sale; and the weekly Reminder AutoMarket.

The 15 ReminderNews weeklies are in Colchester, East Hartford, Enfield, Glastonbury, Hebron/Columbia, Jewett City, Killingly/Plainfield, Manchester, Putnam, South Windsor, Stafford, Vernon, Windham/Mansfield, Windsor and Windsor Locks.

“The acquisition of ReminderMedia is a natural extension of our current portfolio,” Courant Publisher Nancy Meyer said in a written statement.  “As we celebrate our 250th anniversary as the nation’s oldest, continuously published newspaper, it reinforces our commitment to reporting and delivering local news in Connecticut.”
