Leesburg, VA – December 31, 2012 – The highly-respected InsideNoVa.com website and its Facebook page have been purchased by Northern Virginia Media Services from World Media Enterprises, a subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway.  The ownership change is effective today.

Dirks, Van Essen & Murray, a newspaper merger and acquisition firm in Santa Fe, New Mexico, represented World Media Enterprises in the transaction.  Terms were not disclosed.

Earlier this month, Northern Virginia Media Services announced it will launch a new weekly newspaper, Prince William Today, with the first edition to print January 10.  The  announcement followed World Media’s decision to close its five-day-a-week newspaper, the News & Messenger, based in Manassas.

“Owning InsideNoVa.com is a major piece of our strategy and World Media is pleased the area will continue to be served by a local news provider,” said Bruce Potter, regional vice president of Northern Virginia Media Services.

Kari Pugh has been named editor of Prince William Today and InsideNoVa.com.  She was the editor of InsideNoVa.com under World Media until mid-November.

Northern Virginia Media Services owns and operates weekly newspapers and websites in Loudoun, Fairfax and Arlington counties.  With the addition of Prince William Today, Northern Virginia Media Services’ newspapers will reach almost 200,000 homes a week in Northern Virginia and its websites should draw hundreds of thousands of unique visitors a month.
