Metro Jewish News Acquires the Atlanta Jewish TimesBack to News

ATLANTA, GA, April 15, 2009 – Andrew B. Adler, owner of the Metro (GA) Jewish News, has purchased the Atlanta (GA) Jewish Times from Southfield, Michigan-based Jewish Renaissance Media. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

The sale also includes companion products and the web sites www.JTOnline.us, AJTnow.com, AltantaJewishTimes.com, AtlJewishTimes.com and AJTadvertising.com.

Dirks, Van Essen & Murray, a newspaper merger-and-acquisition firm in Santa Fe, New Mexico, represented Jewish Renaissance Media in the transaction.

The Metro Jewish News, formerly the Maccabiah Press, endeavors to provide Atlanta residents a shared sense of news and information. The paper’s goal is to form a more cohesive Jewish network through coverage of community activities taking place in Atlanta’s religious community.

Jewish Renaissance Media President Arthur Horwitz said the company worked hard to find a good home for the Atlanta Jewish Times and the operation’s employees.

Founded in 1925 as the Southern Israelite, the 84-year-old Atlanta Jewish Times publishes an array of print and online products to serve the local Jewish news and advertising market. The flagship Times is published on Friday and has estimated weekly circulation of 5,200. As recently as 2007, the Times was honored by the American Jewish Press Association with four Rockower award for reporting, commentary and design.
