TUCSON, AZ, NOVEMBER 30, 2007 – EXPLORER Newspapers Inc. of Tucson, Arizona announced today that Thirteenth Street Media Inc., a Colorado corporation, has agreed to acquire EXPLORER Newspapers’ publishing assets, including the flagship Tucson EXPLORER weekly and its community portal www.explorernews.com. The announcement was made by EXPLORER stockholders Melanie Larson and Terry Brashear, who were joined by Randy Miller from Thirteenth Street Media.

Dirks, Van Essen & Murray, a newspaper merger-and-acquisition firm based in Santa Fe, New Mexico, represented EXPLORER Newspapers in the transaction. Terms were not disclosed.

Founded in 1993 the award-winning EXPLORER newspaper serves the residential communities northwest of Tucson and is a respected source of local news, politics, sports and entertainment in the market. The paper has weekly controlled distribution of nearly 50,000 and reaches more than 125,000 readers in Northwest Tucson/Pima County and southern Pinal County.

Ms. Larson and Mr. Brashear have served as EXPLORER Newspapers’ Publisher and Chief Financial Officer, respectively. Mr. Miller is Publisher of the Colorado Daily, a community newspaper serving Boulder, Colorado and the University of Colorado. Established in 1892 the five-day Colorado Daily is among the oldest free daily newspapers in the United States. Mr. Miller is also a former owner of the Colorado Daily, having sold the publication in 2005. The Colorado Daily is not affiliated with Thirteenth Street Media.
