Utah Media Partners Acquires Utah Business MagazineBack to News

SALT LAKE CITY, UT, November 19, 2010 – Utah Media Partners, publishers of Hometown Values magazine, has acquired Utah Business magazine, the longest running business magazine in Utah. The purchase includes the magazine and its affiliated events, websites and publications. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Dirks, Van Essen & Murray, a newspaper merger and acquisition firm in Santa Fe, New Mexico, represented Ohio Community Media in the transaction.

“We are pleased to become part of the Utah Media Partners family,” said Tyler Dabo, publisher of Utah Business. “Utah Media Partners has been a strong player in publishing with Hometown Values magazine and adds stability to the Utah Business brand of products and services. We will continue to provide our readers and advertisers with the high-quality publication and events they have come to know and trust.”

Dabo will remain as publisher and general manager. Utah Business will celebrate its 25th anniversary next year. The magazine produces the state’s only annual Book of Lists, comprehensive information and rankings about the state’s industries; the annual Business Utah, the official publication of Utah’s Governor’s Office of Economic Development; the quarterly Wasatch Digital iQ, Utah’s Technology Magazine; UB Daily e-mail news briefings; and weekly industry-specific newsletters.

Utah Media Partners is a print and online advertising company and publishes Utah’s largest circulation magazine, Hometown Values.

Ohio Community Media owns and operates a large portfolio of daily and weekly newspapers in western Ohio, in addition to business publications located throughout the country. OCM took ownership of these publishing assets through a court-ordered Section 363 bankruptcy sale of the Brown Publishing Company’s assets earlier this year.
